Digitalistic movie: Serge Gainsbourg Vie Heroïque

You all probably know the iconic song ‘Je t’aime moi non plus‘ by Serge Gainsbourg and a moaning Jane Birkin recorded in 1969, a year after the Sexual Revolution. The French poet, singer, composer and actor was quite an interesting character. Inseparable from his cigarette, always sort of drunk and with a unique sense of humor he conquered the hearts of a lot of women (even if I think he looked butt-ugly…), Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin to name a few.

Enough inspiration for a movie. Director Joann Sfar produced and directed the movie, ‘Gainsbourg, Vie Heroïque‘, that gives one a glimpse at the life of Serge Gainsbourg, from growing up in 1940s Nazi-occupied Paris through his successful song-writing years in the 1960s to his death in 1991 at the age of 62.

Laetitia Casta plays Brigitte Bardot, the gorgeous actress and femme fatale with whom Gainsbourg had a short but passionate affair before he met Jane Birkin. Initially Bardot sang the female part in ‘Je t’aime moi non plus’ but she later refused to continue on the project

A must see movie if you liked the work of Gainsbourg and want to learn more about his life.
