Digitalisto Comme des Leroi: Letting go is moving forward?

Wifey F. with her clothes on the flea market

Last Queensday weekend inspired me to write my first post as a Digitalisto. As
Queensday approaches, everybody is wondering what to do. Queensday is a
national holiday where we celebrate our queen’s birthday. It is
tradition to sell your old stuff at a flea market early in the morning. My wifey F. and friend I. decided to sell old clothes, shoes, accessories etc. on Queensday and I was there to help out and sell some of my own old stuff.

It all started at home, where our big closet is almost giving up (the poor thing almost fell apart cuz of all the clothes in it). What are we going to sell and how much are we going to ask for it? I was finished in a minute. I wanted to get rid of all the old things. But F. had a much more difficult time. Ladies get attached to their clothes too much, which finally results in the
I-can’t-let-go-of-my-clothes-that’s-why-I-need-a-walk-in-closet-syndrome.

Why is it so hard for women to let go? After talking to some ladies I
might think I understand why. Every item has its own story. One pair of
jeans were worn on a first date, the other was a gift by an ex-boyfriend
and some had clothes that just had memories of a song. So with a lot of
tears F. sold her Marc by Marc Jacobs tee
, Seven jeans, and Adidas jacket
amongst other nice things. She even got into an arguement because some
girl wanted her old Juicy Couture bag for 3 euros. In the end we got rid
of all the items, with a grand total of 220 euros.

When we got home, we were exhausted. I went to our closet immediately
and noticed that our amount of clothes did NOT decrease. It was still
the same as we left it. Then I got struck by a lightning bold – It’s
because of me!! I’m the main reason why F. had to sell her old clothes.
80% of all the clothes in our closet were mine; the other 20% were hers.
All her other clothes were in boxes, stored in our little (you can
barely call it) basement. I could look at my clothes everyday, she did
not even remember she bought the Marc by Marc Jacobs tee!!

Not a single brain cell in my head is thinking about selling my old
Comme des Garcons jacket or my old Acne Jeans. Now I’m feeling guilty
and I want to buy her a lot of new clothes and cook her a really nice
dinner.

What do you ladies think? Can I make up for her losses? Tiffany’s maybe?

Or Chanel? HELP!
