Hotspot: Teppanyaki at Sazanka

The Digitalistas love Asian food. Not only because Digi E is half Asian, but because it’s tasty and healthy. Especially Japanese food is one of our favourites -Digi K could eat sushi every day- so we were excited when we got invited to have dinner at Sazanka, the Teppanyaki restaurant of the Okura hotel in Amsterdam.

It’s no sushi, but the other Japanese style of cooking. Beef, prawns, lobster, scallops, chicken and assorted vegetables are prepared on a hot iron plate. As a guest, you have entertainment in front of you during dinner, just by watching the chef work the griddle.

Sazanka is the teppanyaki restaurant of the renowned Okura hotel in Amsterdam, and they strictly employ skilled Japanese teppan-chefs. In a typical Japanese ambiance, Sazanka offers 11 griddles to place groups up to ten people, and there’s also the possibility to book a private dining room.

We were there to have dinner with designer Alexis Mabille and Cointreau, so besides having great food, we also had some good company! Have a look at what landed on our plates after a delicious wagyu beef tataki as an appetizer….and what we had for dessert here.

Dinner is served from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Click here for reservations.
