As we love to travel, we also love new hotelconcepts. Even if they are located in our home town! Digi K got a little sneak peek at the new ANDAZ hotel in Amsterdam…

The lifestyle concept of Andaz is part of the Hyatt Hotels Corporation, and there are already ANDAZ hotels in London (Liverpool street), New York (Wall Street) and Shanghai. The name means ‘Style’ in Hindi, which is approppriate for what the hotel stands for.

From interior design to services, ANDAZ wants to offer a new hotel experience. In the old public library at the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam, where ANDAZ Amsterdam is settled, you will not find the regular check-in desk, but hosts checking you in with tablets.

To make the hotel look unique, ANDAZ collaborated with internationally renowned designer Marcel Wanders, who gave it his artistic and unusual take on Dutch history. He even came up with a new term ’1 minute Delfts-blue’; the style in which he also handpainted (and signed) our limited edition construction helmet! The hotel was still under construction when we had our sneak peek, so it makes us even more curious how the end result will turn out.

ANDAZ Amsterdam is set to open in October 2012, though room reservations are already possible on the website.
