Want to give your skin the royal treatment? I’ve just experienced the queen mother of all facials (and I’ve experienced quite a few facials in my day)
Babassu is a salon with locations in Leiden and Amsterdam, and it’s one of my favourite places for pampering and rejuvenation. Their Cold Plasma facial is a 90-minute long session of pure bliss.
The treatment uses only products from Dr. Perricone, a line of top-quality natural skincare products. The facial begins with a wash using the delicious Citrus Facial Wash, then a tingling toner and exfoliation with the Glycolic Cleansing Bar, a super gentle soap that removes excess skin.
Next comes the slightly painful extraction process, which means removing the build-up of sebum from pores (or simply put, squeezing pores to remove the garbage). Nobody particularly enjoys having pores pinched and squeezed per se, but it’s all worthwhile to have deeply cleansed skin and reach the next relaxing steps: a massage to tighten and lift facial muscles, followed by a relaxing neck and shoulder massage and deep moisture treatment on your neck.
The massages were amazing, especially when my aesthetician stopped after doing half my face to show the difference; the side she had massaged was visibly lifted and wrinkles were significantly reduced!
The facial finished with a layer of the Vitamin C Ester eye cream and face cream, which work to boost collagen for brighter, firmer, smoother skin. After the whole treatment, my skin was utterly glowing and felt unbelievably moisturized and nourished. Overall, the facial is a great investment for your skin, especially at this time of year when the weather changes and air becomes dry. I give it five stars, two thumbs up, 10 out of 10 – no matter how you say it, a great experience.
