Everyone is talking about ‘amazing’ keratin treatments these days, so I was recently looking into getting one myself.
Thank goodness my research led me to discover the harmful dangers of the treatment. It’s said that the carcinogen formaldehyde is an ingredient in that secret mixture that leaves the frizziest hair so silky and smooth. Ladies who have had it done have reported symptoms like nosebleeds, chest pains and burning eyes – and it’s the same for hairdressers who perform the service. Do you think it’s worth the risk? More importantly, what are the long-term effects?
Those of you with frizzy hair, do not fret! Redken has developed a safe, effective alternative to the keratin treatment which is just as effective. I recently tried out the Redken Chemistry Shot at the lovely Rob Peetoom salon in de Bijenkorf.
a) Frizzy, unruly hair is left amazingly soft, silky and smooth.
b) It costs only €10 extra on top of your wash/cut price
c) It adds only 15-20 minutes on top of your wash/cut service
d) It’s safe!
e) The effects last for 8 washes afterwards.
After washing my hair, my stylist applied the Redken formula, then wrapped my hair in a towel and clingfilm to lock in the moisture. Then all I had to do was sit under a warm and cozy dryer for 15 minutes while the heat worked its magic. Hair follicles open, allowing the Redken moisture and protein-packed formula to work its magic.
I couldn’t believe my eyes. At a bargain of just €10 on top of your service price, I’d recommend the Chemistry Shot at Rob Peetoom to anyone and everyone!
I now follow-up at home and use a Redken straightening lotion (also available at Rob Peetoom) before blow-drying. The difference is amazing.
