Smart for Jeremy

An ongoing trend in the automotive business is to make cars more fashionable. Electric cars are now subject of being fashionized. Meet the Smart forjeremy.

The car manufacturer tackled designer Jeremy Scott to provide the electric smart with some fashion ‘swag’. This cute, tiny vehicle has been enhanced with Scott’s trademark: the wings. They are not just decorative, but also functional as they serve as rear and brake lights: “For me, wings mean freedom, a sense of weightlessness. Because of this, I definitely wanted to have them for the smart electric drive in order to convey the way it frees the environment of noxious emissions and symbolizes the new lightness of mobility,” Scott says.

Aside from the wings, the car has headlights that look like naughty eyes lighting up, which really adds to the cuteness-factor.

Being a ‘fashionable’ design, Smart is making a tour of fashion capitals. Since the release of the car in Los Angeles in november 2012, the Smart forjeremy has made an appearance at the New York Fashionweek this month, and will soon pop-up at Tokyo fashion week in March.
