Is the bar-fight black eye the newest beauty trend? At Derek Lam’s FW ’14 runway show in NYC on last Sunday, models channeled a quasi-black eye in shades of grey.
“Derek’s collection is strong, urban, ethnic-inspired with an emphasis on texture,” says Tom Pecheux, Estée Lauder’s Creative Makeup Director. “The makeup look is strong, yet fluid, with pools of gray and green surrounding the eye. I was inspired by water, a lagoon, deep and cool.”
Obviously the thick and heavy-lid look isn’t intended for day-to-day wear, but we did love the appearance of ultra-bold lids. Estee Lauder products were used: Lucidity Translucent Loose Powder (in Transparent), Pure Color Instant Intense EyeShadow (in Camo Chrome) and Pure Color EyeShadow in Ivy Envy.
Since we’re also obsessed with nude lips this season, we are majorly lusting for the Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick (used in Insatiable Ivory and Intense Nude).
At the core of it all was perfect skin, with a perfectly even and matte appearance.
Pecheux used Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Light Stay-in-Place Makeup with High Cover Concealer and – the secret to that perfect glow – Lucidity Translucent Loose Power (in Transparent).
