Whether you’re a local Dutchie or expat in Amsterdam, Annes Concept Voor Mooi is our latest discovery in the Dutch beauty scene … and we have to say, we’re totally in love.
Annes Concept Voor Mooi (or in English, Anne’s concept for beauty) is like a unique concept shop – but for beauty! Founder Anne Los founded the company three years ago with the idea of creating an all-in-one stop for beauty. It’s the only place I’ve discovered in Amsterdam to offer so many services: manicures, pedicures, facials, gel polish, sugaring, massages, hair dressing, makeup application, cosmetic acupuncture, eyelash extensions, botox and hyaluronan and permanent makeup.
While it sounds like a lot for one space, I was surprised by how cozy and home-y the salon felt – especially for a place with such a varied treatment menu!
Think of when you might have an important work meeting or special event to attend. The idea is that you can come stop by Anne’s Concept Voor Mooi for a manicure to primp your hands, then relax with a facial (all natural products from Pandhy’s are guaranteed to give you a glow). Because we all like to enjoy a soothing scalp massage, hair might be a little greasy afterwards – so, pop to the hair salon for a wash and blow-dry to freshen up. Finish off with a stunning makeup application and you’re ready for a night on the town. Sounds divine, no?
All treatments are done using Pandhy’s products, which hail from Hungary and are based on natural ingredients like rose water, lavender flower, apple cider and sugar. Their pure mineral pigment makeup is free from oils, silicones, talc, dyes and waxes, so it doesn’t block pores but allows skin to breathe while protecting it from pollutants. It’s weightless, long-wearing and has a SPF 20, plus has no allergy risks and helps prevent breakouts for oily and acne-prone skin.
I popped by last week for a deluxe pedicure and loved the treatment. While sipping on tea, beautician Danny gave me the royal treatment complete with a divine leg and foot scrub, massage and removal of built-up skin and calices (icky, but necessary). After polishing my toes, I got to take home the bottle of polish for touch-ups in a few weeks!
The salon space is beautiful but unpretentious; Los says her inspiration was to make it a “home away from home” for customers. The décor is like something out of an interior design magazine, with crystal chandeliers, antique-looking wood furnishings and tranquil treatment rooms. It’s the ultimate space for a ladies’ day out.
Annes Concept Voor Mooi is conveniently located just near the P.C. Hooftstraat and Museumplein, so it’s super central for both locals and out-of-towners who might be visiting for the day. When you make a booking you’ll receive a confirmation email (very handy for my agenda keeping!) and after your treatment you’ll also receive your payment receipt by email.
