Hi there! my name is Yaela and I’m a workaholic, a mom, a marketer and a perverted lover of all things hospitality. Fortunately I get to combine most of the above in my marketing agency Typhoon Hospitality. Every two weeks I share a glimpse into my often chaotic, unglamorous and insane life with you. Buckle up y’all, it’s going to be a bumpy ride….
I often get asked the same question. Not to be rude or insensitive but it’s a pretty dumb question. It’s been fired away at me from all different sides. Neighbors, moms at school, friends, co-workers and I even catch myself contemplating this riddle. ‘How do you combine it all?’
Everyone (myself included) wonders how I combine a fast-growing agency with even faster growing kids. How I combine my marriage with all the PR & food events I ‘have’ to attend. How I combine being the ‘lice-mother’ who checks all the kids in my sons class for lice, with 3-stage PR pitches.
The question implies there’s an answer. A magic recipe to balance all these balls flying above my head. The harsh truth however is that I have no F-ing (pardon my French) clue.
I struggle to keep a grip on my work whilst being an active and present mother to my children. I crave sleep more often than I crave sex. I am a terrible friend and not even close to the social creature Facebook portrays. Believe me, ask any of them. The friend who gets a two sentence text before I crash into bed at night. The husband who is often deprived of home cooked meals. The colleagues who are held to the same insane standard as I hold myself. They will all tell you…it ain’t as pretty and/ or easy as it looks most of the time. Let me show you…
PHOTO 1 (feature image) – My dear colleague Rachel and I decided to treat each other to a nice birthday dinner. Our birthdays are one day apart so that calls for a joint celebration. Sounds nice right? Well it was! granted our birthdays were in January and this picture was taken yesterday…
PHOTO 2 – What was that thing about the correlation between an organized workspace and a clear mind again?
POTO 3 – My organic, healthy version of uppers & downers. Looked down and saw this in my kitchen. Not sure whether to laugh or cry.
PHOTO 4 – The best of both worlds. Playing with my kids while catching up on my reading. Foolproof plan.
PHOTO 5 – One of the many many perks of my job is that I never have to go hungry. Check out this gorgeous black paella at Spanish-food-heaven Mercat. We got to celebrate Spanish Paella day. That is actually a thing…love it!
