Oribe Launches at Meraki!

photo 3Oribe, one of the world’s most exclusive haircare lines, is now available in Amsterdam at Meraki in the Conservatorium Hotel.

Oribe is named after one of the greatest hairstylists in the world. He’s worked with the biggest names in the fashion industry, from Giorgio Armani, Karl Lagerfeld, Tom Ford and Donatella Versace to makeup artist Pat McGrath and photographer Mario Testino. He’s the go-to stylist of Madonna and Jennifer Lopez, and his worked has appeared on more Vogue covers than I can count.photo 4

In 2009, Oribe Hair Care was launched with the goal of being the most sophisticated and high-performance brand on the market, available at only the most exclusive salons. It’s all about sexy, glamorous styling and using only the best ingredients. Products are versatile, lightweight, concentrated, innovative and reparative.

The collection is divided into small ranges that deliver specific results: adding volume, moisture, shine, smoothness or protecting colour.

“It’s a polished look that I love for women,” says Oribe. “I like a certain decadence or sexiness.”

All products are lightly scented with Oribe’s signature fragrance, Cote d’Azur, which combines Italian bergamot, pink lemons and white peach with cedarwood, white amber and musk. It’s subtle, fresh and anything but overpowering.

The award-winning packaging is ultra-chic and sophisticated – which comes as no surprise as it was designed by Karl Lagerfeld.

I visited Meraki in the Conservatorium Hotel last week to try out the product for myself. I fell in love with the line and the way my hair felt – nourished, soft and still lightweight. Stylist Bert Visser used the Signature Shampoo and Conditioner to start, followed by the Maximista Thickening Spray and the Dry Texturing Spray (my new favourite product and one of Oribe’s best-selling). It’s like a lightweight dry shampoo that doesn’t leave residue or build-up in your hair. To finish it off, Visser used just a small spray of the Superfine Hairspray to hold the look.

As you can see my in photo, I had the perfect beachy waves – and I couldn’t believe how easy it was to get the look with just three styling products and in about 10 minutes!

Meraki is one of Amsterdam’s best hair salons, with impeccable service and an understanding of how a visit to a hairdresser should be. I highly recommend it, especially for expats in search of talented stylists.
