REN Detox Facial at The Spa | Andaz Amsterdam

It’s that time of year again: autumn is on its way, which means it’s time to invest in a facial. The change of seasons is always the perfect moment to give your skin a deep cleaning, especially as it attempts to deal with the transition from hot summer sun to colder, drier weather.

So last week, I booked the REN Skin Detox Facial at The Spa at Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht. The tranquil spa is located below the hotel in a decadently-designed space with a cool white colour scheme.

In the change room I was given a locker to store my valuables and invited to change into a plush bathrobe and cozy slippers – a most welcome change after a hectic day. (Plus, considering I was wearing a tight pair of new jeans, I was very happy to have the opportunity to take them off to fully relax.)

 

I’ve been a fan of REN products for quite some time, and the Skin Detox Facial only confirmed my adoration for the brand, which uses only 100% plant and mineral-derived ingredients. My skin felt smoother, significantly more hydrated and cleansed, plus I had a lovely glow.

 

The resident Andaz facial aesthetician is originally from Korea – also known as a mecca for modern skincare. After examining my skin condition, she used a mix of REN products that she custom-blended to suit my needs. I loved Clarimatte and Evercalm lines (the Anti-Redness serum was amazing and afterwards my skin wasn’t blotchy whatsoever!) She also gave me all sorts of tips for skincare, such as the importance of using a toner (like the Clarimatte Clarifying Toner) between every step of your skincare regime, to restore the pH balance.

The Spa at Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht has an array of great treatments available, with facials all using the REN and June Jacobs lines. The full menu ranges from the Intensive Age-Defying Hydrating Facial to the Botanical Glow Facial, Deep Body Balance Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Cooling Leg Treatment and waxing. The spa also has a sauna, solarium, rain showers, relaxation area and gym, all with ultra-clean, modern facilities.
