As you know we like to make fun of ourselves. Life is boring when you take it too seriously. Thankfully we’re not the only ones, some other people in fashion share the same attitude. You just need to take a look at this picture from Fashionation. Hilarious!
Are we jealous? Yes of course we are! Striking a pose for Vogue is something everybody is dreaming of. But on the other hand…it is super cool to see those bloggers on the March issue of the American Vogue! WWD posted this interesting article this morning about bloggers becoming the new fashion celebrities. Isn’t that what we were saying all along? The most important part is getting recognition from the fashion industry, and it finally seems to be working now. Just like Susie Bubble (Susanna Lau) says, it’s time that bloggers are considered as part of the media:
“We’re focusing on bloggers as freak beings, which I find a little offensive,” said Lau. “They’re one strand of media. Magazines are another strand.”
We almost feel like real celebrities. LOL. We are not only mentioned in newspaper de Pers, but we were also interviewed by the most prestigious Dutch news channel NOS. We talk about fashion blogging, teenage bloggers and magazines versus blogs. Don’t we look cute with the three of us having so much fun?
It’s not that fashionable being a Dutch fashionista. Especially when your name is Digitalista E./ Little Miss Jacobs (her nick name), who had to ride on her bike all the way to the centre of Amsterdam with her designer heels, little black dress and cute leopard coat on. And it was almost raining! But lucky her: the front row moment at the fashion show of Hans Ubbink made her day!
I (digitalista M.) just finished my story for de Volkskrant, a prestigious daily newspaper in Holland, about the influence of all those teeny tiny teenage fashionbloggers like Tavi. The story will be published on the 30th of January and it’s all about the question; why are these kids booming business? Tavi is my big example and I made a whole list of all the things she had done…so far. Because every time you think it can’t become weirder, it gets weirder.
“There has been a complete change this year. Do I think, as a publicist, that I now have to have my eye on some kid who’s writing a blog in Oklahoma as much as I do on an editor from Vogue? Absolutely. Because once they write something on the Internet, it’s never coming down. And it’s the first thing a designer is going to see.” A quote by Kelly Cutrone, who has been organizing fashion shows since 1987.
