Cara Delevingne and Eddie Redmayne for Burberry

Again, two British icons feature in the Burberry S/S ’12 campaign. This time it’s the turn of socialite and model/actress Cara Delevingne and actor Eddie Redmayne (both Burberry regulars, Eddie’s first campaign was in 2008, Cara’s first in 2011, and she also walks the runway shows. TD) to personify British heritage with a modern touch. The campaign has something fresh and Sherlock-Holmes-like to us (does the release of the Sherlock Holmes-sequal have anything to do with it?)

Some more information about the models: Cara Delevingne might be an often heard name for you by now. She and her two sisters Poppy and Chloe are frequently spotted guests in the British fashion scene. The Daily Mail says the Middletons even fade by the appearance of the Delevingnes. Cara is the youngest- whose godmother is no other than Joan Collins- and the more grungy type that likes to hang out with popstar’s offspring; she can count Coco Summer and Tara Ferry (who also featured in a Burberry campaign last year) in her inner circle of friends.

Eddie Redmayne is an actor, model and Cambridge Art History graduate. You may have noticed him in the movies Savage Grace, The Good Sheperd or The Other Boleyn Girl and he even co-starred a movie with our talented Carice van Houten in the supernatural thriller Black Death. Next you’ll see him in My Week with Marilyn alongside Michelle Williams (release January 26th in NL), and he will be taking on the role of Marius in Les Misérables. You can read a nice interview with him here.

Eddie on Christopher Bailey: “I am a huge fan of Christopher Bailey. He is a brilliant designer and a brilliant man. The fashion world can be a tad intimidating but Christopher remains a kind, grounded gem of a man.”

Cara on working with Eddie: “I was thrilled when I found out I was working with Eddie, I knew right away it was going to be lots of fun. He is such nice guy, extremely good looking and charming too…which always helps. The Burberry shoots never really feel like work.”

Burberry Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey on the choice of his cast: “We wanted to capture a moment in the lives of two exciting and inspiring British actors who have been part of the Burberry family for several years. The images reflect the mood of the collection through Eddie’s and Cara’s energy, playfulness and effortless elegance and I have such huge admiration for them both.”
